Attitude is a simulator of an airplanes Attitude Indicator (ADI). We use the iPhones accelerometer to mimic gyroscope of the ADI. Take it with you on your next flight to have some fun! You can also mount it in your car or SUV during your next off-road adventure.

Please note: this application is intended purely for entertainment purposes. It is not intended for navigation of aircraft, and it is not a flight simulator.

Wow! Im impressed

I was a little suspicious as to whether this app would be that accurate or sensitive, but Im impressed. If you had your iPhone firmly mounted in your aircraft it could be used in an emergency situation. Id just hate to be in the clouds, flying on this thing and then bump it with my elbow. The one thing Id love to see on this is a way to set it at level flight and then reposition the actual iPhone. Right now the iPhone has to be perfectly vertical to read correct. If I could position the phone to a convenient angle and still read accurate information that would be a real plus.

Instrument Rated Pilot

If your not a pilot and dont understand the significance of this application, please dont write a review. This basic application is absolutely amazing. It means the iPhone has an advance electronic gyroscope built in. I couldnt believe how well the attitude indicator works. It might not be IFR certified, but it sure looks like it works a well as the real thing. Next time Im VFR with a friend, Im doing some serious testing. This looks like it would really work as an emergency attitude indicator, if you had no other options. Thanks for this amazing aviation tool!

Good for flight instructors or frequent flyers

Lets face it, it is what it is. Not too exciting if youre driving on the Interstate in the middle of Kansas. More interesting perhaps if youre driving around Denver on the mountains. Fun to look at during arrival/departure phases of a flight. As a flight instructor (many, many snows ago) this would have been a super ultra-sophisto practical demonstrator during "chalk talks" before or after taking a flight about aircraft attitude during different phases of flight. Itd be nice if it was a more modern EFIS display.

cool

I can see why a non-pilot would call this pointless, but for a pilot, this is a very cool app. As an instructional tool for a CFI, this would be very helpful. Of course this is not FAA approved, but I sure wouldnt mind having this handy if my AI ever went out during IMC.

Eh

Application works as said, though the price is a bit high for such a app that doesnt really have much of a true use other than having fun with an accelerometer or wondering where you are in a Boeing. Some of the graphics seem to could have been done better, but the app was a little fun app overall.

Fantastic effort

At first I thought itd just be a fun gadget on a plane but then actually found a useful application- the thing provides a very accurate pocket level. I wish I could program so I could write an app with a bubble and measure along the long edge but I know its just a matter of time before someone else does it. Maybe these guys?? Nice work!!

Oops. It didnt work out

So please ignore my previous post. I took it for a flight yesterday and quickly found the limitations. It shows a bank when turning on the ground, a climb when accelerating for take off, and level when in a coordinated turn. Some of the new aircraft instruments use accelerometers without gyros (like the crossbow system, or the new aspen avionics mfd), so I was hoping this would work the same way. It does not. Also, those of you who felt it necessary to flame me for my first post that this looked like a promising backup instrument: Do you really think an multi-instrument rated pilot would take off into IMC without having first tried this out VFR? Sheesh, get over yourselves...
