The San Francisco Bay Area has an almost unequaled variety and quality of fishing. Topping the list are King Salmon that can be caught over a long season. Okay, so the returns the two previous years has been so low that fishing has been prohibited but this year it is back and catches are good. Saltwater anglers also have striped bass, halibut, delicious lingcod and rockfish and monster sturgeon. Sport fishing boats out of most of the marinas make it easy for angler to catch these fish.

Fresh water anglers have an equally impressive array of fish. The Delta is one of the best black bass fishing spots in the US and many lakes have great fishing for this species. Trout are an almost sure catch during the cool months in many of the lakes. Many marinas at these lakes rent tackle and boats making it easy for you, even if you are an new angler, to learn to catch them.
