-----------------------------------------------

The DASH diet was developed by the The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI). Studies have shown that nutrients such as potassium, calcium, protein, and fiber are crucial to fending off or fighting high blood pressure. You don’t have to track each one, though. Just emphasize the foods you’ve always been told to eat (fruits, veggies, whole grains, lean protein, and low-fat dairy), while shunning those we’ve grown to love (calorie- and fat-laden sweets and red meat). Top it all off by cutting back on salt, and voilà! This diet is similar in style to other popular diets you may have heard of, such as the TLC diet, mediterranean diet, and the Mayo Clinic diet.

Rigorous studies show DASH can lower blood pressure, which if too high can trigger heart disease, heart failure, and stroke. (In fact, the name DASH stands for Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension—hypertension being the medical term for high blood pressure.) It’s also been shown to increase “good” HDL cholesterol and decrease “bad” LDL cholesterol and triglycerides, a fatty substance that in excess has been linked to heart disease. Overall, DASH reflects the medical community’s widely accepted definition of a heart-healthy diet—its heavy on fruits and vegetables and light on saturated fat, sugar, and salt.

Hypertension or hypokalemia ? Dont bother with this app

Pretty useless

Not worth the money!

Bought this thinking it would give different recipes than the "Dash" diet book. Greatly disappointed! Same recipes, just pretty pictures. First app I wish I could return and get a refund.

Dont waste your money!

Very limited amount of recipes. Definitely not worth the time or $ for purchase! Pictures do not correspond to actual recipe. For example, one recipe detailing broccoli cheese bake depicted picture with cornflakes and corn pieces in it and those ingredients were not in the recipe!

Less than expected

Its just a recipe book thats all. 1. There is no planner. 2. There is no food lookup. 3. There are not that many recipes. 4. The lunch and dinner recipes are just duplicates. 5. There are no snack recipes at all. Overall I was disappointed. The I phone app looks better it has a planner in it. If you have an i pad i would get the I phone app.

Dash

Great list of recipes...get more please...

Good selection of recipes

The five star rating reflects my opinion that this app executes and delivers what is described and intended through an interface that is intuitive and easy to read. It is a recipe app with nutritional data for your separate food log application. The nutritional data helps folks track their daily intakes by recipe versus having to enter in each ingredient separately. What would be nice to see, this app and other recipe apps having the ability to integrate with food diary apps like MyFitnessPal etc.
