Van Dale Dikke contains many words that are not found in any of my other Dutch dictionaries. In that regard, it is an invaluable resource. However, verb conjugations are lacking. Van Dale Dikke only provides present and past, whereas other, cheaper dictionaries provide full verb conjugations. The layout for conjugations could also be improved. The smaller Van Dale dictionaries have been updated recently, Im hoping the Dikke and Groot are updated soon.

Containing the Dutch lexicon ranging from around 1880 until now, this well known dictionary is a trustworthy source of information about the Dutch language - both modern and from the past. Although it is full of tradition, it is still up-to-date after almost 150 years.
