live streams is useless especially cause you can’t stream local channels in hd or out of home wifi, channels offered for viewing live is limited, and when viewing live streams it keeps crashing. app itself has horrible interface. so confusing and hard to find anything to watch. remove option to view on tv, if i’m at home and want to watch tv at home i’ll use the remote not the app. remove channels that no one wants like shopping and pay per view. channel lineup is bloated with ads, remove. just horrible. i end up using apps from network itself to watch content from that network. if i could give negative ratings i would.

directv app is garbage

Great when it works
I can not watch my shows on my DVR - I get the message my receiver is steaming to another mobile device. My phone is the only device used. Please fix!!!!
We’ve been part of directv for many years and amidst travels I rely on my app, be it on any of my devices supported to utilize the app basis of directv is needless to say inconsistent. For the amount of money spent on the service and bundling with a great (at-home) wi-fi plan, you’d think that streaming on my device with full bars/strength of cellular signal that I’d be able to watch one show completely. Meaning, I begin watching a live stream episode and not have it just stop streaming mid show. No warning, no service or signal interruptions... just stops. I’ve made sure my app was up to date and assured that there were no issues with my device(s) (7 Plus/Samsung Galaxy S8/iPad mini 4/MacBook Air/Surface Pro 3 — even use via the worldwide web). Not throwing shade on anyone else and the success of their respective devices, just referencing that I’ve tried all my devices across the board without success. I’ve been on the road for just over a week and this has occurred on ever single occasion even when trying to stay current with news. I never thought I’d be a person that would rate a service provider or even an app as I have; because (for me) when you make an investment (supporting, financial, etc) then you’d hope that the quality and not the quantity is of relevance. People work entirely too hard to have what should be the access to some of the minor luxuries of subscriptions, services and entertainment be inconsistent or lacking when monies have been spent (amid and home-based) to ensure when on the go these apps and accessibility’s are available as needed. It’s too much of a monopoly as is among the cable/satellite service providers competing with HuLu, Netflix, Amazon, and many more. The least you can do is provide a descent app service of being able to live steam consistently. Please fix the issue and if you can’t at least say that and I will consider alternative measures for myself and family. Thank you for your time and consideration in this review.
UNAVAILABLE STREAMING - CASTING VIA ? TV.
This app has PREVIOUSLY been enjoyable to stream and cast/mirror movies, on demand, and DVR shows via ?TV when away from home. Though it has still never streamed & cast anything more than the audio for Live TV, I could still find the app beneficial despite the semi-regular hiccups with dropping the cast or delaying audio/video alignment. As of this last update (October) this app has become WORTHLESS if streaming & casting via ? TV due to a (SCREEN RECORDING ENABLED) error. I have checked every setting including the notIfications & control center settings to disable and remove any and all screen recording capabilities. Everything shown is set to off or has been manually removed in efforts to troubleshoot. I have also been to multiple forums for additional info and can only find 1 like concern on reddit however no fix has been identified. *Developers please provide a patch or fix for this bug/issue. Any additional assistance would be most appreciated. Thanks.
Worthless just like Direct TV
Absolutely terrible! Steaming is horrible and works 5% of the time. This app is the exact same as Direct TVs "On Demand" completely worthless. Additional advise, do not purchase any sport packages as half the channels are "Blacked out" or "Unavailable in the area". Terrible company and terrible service provider.
