Description
iStellar is a planetarium App that shows the starry sky seen from the place and time of your choice. It is optimized for Multi-Touch control, allowing you to operate intuitively; drag to move the star chart, pinch to zoom in and out, and so on.
The star chart can be rotated from portrait to landscape, and you can even fix the location via GPS (only for iPhone 3G).

Das Programm ist unnütz
Verspielt aber nix für Profis
Ich selbst bezeichne mich nicht als Profi, eher als Hobby Astronom. In meinem Arsenal befindet sich nur ein kleines namenloses Teleskop mit dem ich mir ab und an den Sternenhimmel anschaue. Deshalb finde ich dieses Programm sehr schön, hätte aber einige Verbesserungswünsche. Im Prinzip sollten die Macher sich einfach mal bei der Konkurrenz umsehen. Für den Profi wird wohl Starmap pro die erste Wahl sein, deshalb sollten sich die Macher genau hier mal umschauen. Würde iStellar den Leistungsumfang von StarMap pro haben und dabei die Performance behalten gäbe es von mir sofort 10 Sterne!!! Nun zu den Keypoints: + sehr schöne flüssige Animation und Grafik + Online Update Funktion (z.B. für Kometen oder kosmische Ereignisse) + Suchfunktion für Objekte + Zoomfunktion (allerdings nicht soweit das man Details von Planeten erkennen kann) + Viele Anzeige Optionen einstellbar (Tag/Nacht, Gitterlinien, Namen, Sternzeichen, etc.) + GPS Unterstützung + Zeitwahl + Der Entwickler bringt regelmässige Programm Updates mit neuen Features heraus! - Datenbank ist viel zu klein (gerade mal für Großstädter interessant) please Update!!! - keine Detail Informationen zu den Objekten (gerade bei Monden von z.b. Jupiter oder Staurn interessant) - keine Übersichtstabelle über die Sichtbarkeit von Objekten - kein Nightview (Rot-Modus) - Keine deutsche Sprachunterstützung Fazit: Ein schönes verspieltes Programm das für Astronomie-Begeisterte aber auch Kinder bei dem Preis interessant ist da es auch als Bildschirmschoner eine gute Figur macht. Es hat viel Potential und so hoffe ich das die Macher schnellstens weitere Updates herausbringen. Profis sollten sich lieber bei der Konkurrenz umschauen! 3,8 Sterne (aufgerundet ;)) - wenn Update kommt 5+!

Dieses App. ist sehr gut, jedoch nicht auf Deutsch - so findet man viele Sterne oder Sternbilder ohne Vorwissen nicht oder nur schwer - der künstliche Horizont und die sich verändernden Lichtverhältnisse sind ein großes Plus, genauso wie die Suchoption

Visually beautiful display. Might not be enough technical "stuff" for some, but it is a lovely view of the stars and planets in your pocket.
Beautiful as well as useful
This App wins full marks for its visual appearance, especially the twinkle of brighter stars. I love the ability to activate the images for the constellations and have them appear as you center in on each one. The drawings are clear and beautiful! The addition of being able to download the orbital elements for current comets proved to be highly accurate and handy as I observed Comet Lulin with my telescope during its journey through our Solar System. This is the only astronomical software that I have found so far for the iTouch with this ability. I also use this App when teaching about constellations during public observing sessions. Very well done. I do wish that we could select the whole sky, thereby allowing the user to explore the southern constellations as well. I hope that this feature will be added soon, then I can add the other rating-star!
one of my favorites!
along with starwalk, this is my favorite application on my touch. i love it. i love the twinkling stars and the graphics. i just wish everything was antialiased for a smoother look - but its an amazing app anyway. one of the rare ones i use just about every day, if only out of curiosity!
