Good calculation tool unfortunately you cant sélect a default shape and you cant sélect default input units, therefore requires to be set each Time before use.
Estimation application downloads and cost
Description
Its main purpose is to allow the user to compute the single and total weight of common sections, while also providing useful information such as Area, Inertias and Radius of Gyration for them.
The tool contains two databases that simplifies the calculations. One is a material unit weight database, the other contains a set of Gauge Standards Worldwide.
Metals & Materials, like the application it derives from, Cross Sections Calculator, accepts inputting any dimension / weight in units independent of each other. For example, width can be entered in Feet, while height in inches or millimeters and length in yards or meters.
Any output can be displayed in any of several units. A single tap on unit displayed in the expandable results list cycles through the available units for that output.
All Input / Output units are stored b/w session and can be reset from the info window.
Both Imperial and Metric systems are supported and can be mixed at will in both for both input & output, ALL CONVERSION IS PROPERLY HANDLED IN THE BACKGROUND.
Available Materials (any unit weight can be entered manually as well)
--------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------
- Alloy Steel - Aluminum
- Brass Alloy - Bronze
- Copper - Copper Alloys
- Magnesium - Nickel
- Plastic - Stainless
- Steel - Titanium
- Zinc
Available Gauge Standards:

You should consider Cross Sections Calculator over Metals & Materials, the small price differential between the two gives you A LOT MORE. More sections (23 total), more output (21 properties, including Volume, Surface Area, many cross sectional mechanical properties), user editable Weight Database & sortable Materials & Gauge databases!

Good but
Wow ..!!!!!!
Forget what I said ...this app is amazing very easy !!!
Unità di misura
Applicazione utile per il mio lavoro, ma purtroppo manca il calcolo del peso in Kg e quindi per me inservibile!!!!
Goop app. Needs a little
App crashes if you rotate beyond last shape. Dosent have angles, channels or I beams. Still for the price it is nice to have.
Too much / Too confusing
The layout is too busy and the horizontal input is odd. There are too many variables and the labels arent clear. I only work in Aluminum so I found the new "ALUM CALC" app much more functional
Nice tool!
Very nice and flexible tool, its nice being able to use units of measurement independent of each other, its just natural to measure pipes length in feet/yards and their diameters in inches.
good, but needs more materials
This will be quite helpful, but it needs some more materials added to the database (the title implies there are more materials than just metals, but that is not the case). I would like to see many of the common grades of plastics added, such as ABS, PCABS, TPO, PP, GMF Nylon, etc. It would also be nice if we could have the option to directly enter a material volume for non-standard shapes.
