OSI Connect is a mobile learning and self-management app developed to assist the Canadian Armed Forces, veterans and RCMP community with operational stress injuries (OSI) . OSI Connect is portable and provides information and assistance at the touch of a button.

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), anxiety, depression, and substance abuse are types of
operational stress injuries (OSI). Canadian Armed Forces members, veterans and RCMP need
to know that OSI Clinics across Canada specialize in treating these conditions that come from combat, high stress or operational fatigue. OSI Connect provides information and assistance to help you and your family.

Recognizing that you need help, and getting the help you need, takes real courage.

Check out the details to start feeling better soon.

An operational stress injury (OSI) is any persistent psychological difficulty resulting from
operational duties performed during military or RCMP service. It includes a range of health
problems such as anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, substance use and Post-Traumatic
Stress Disorder (PTSD) as well as other conditions that may be less severe, but still interfere with daily functioning.

There are nine outpatient OSI clinics in eight provinces as well as a residential facility
near Montreal. Each clinic has a dedicated professional team that includes psychiatrists,
psychologists, social workers, mental health nurses, and other specialized clinicians. They use
their knowledge of the military and police environments to develop personalized OSI treatment plans. Your spouse and close family members can be involved in the treatment process.

An important strength of OSI Clinics is its team-based treatment approach. Through this
specialized care, you are able to address difficulties, develop treatment objectives, access
resources, and improve your quality of life.

While continuing to live in your community, you attend periodic appointments at the OSI
clinic except for the residential and inpatient stabilization treatment programs. If there is
no clinic in your area, the network is set up to provide telehealth services in all 13 provinces
and territories. You are also are offered a variety of treatment options including individual
therapies, group sessions, psycho-education sessions and access to other resources.

As your treatment progresses, OSI Clinics help you plan to maintain your health improvements,
in partnership with your health professional or the Veterans Affairs Canada case manager.

Treatment for complex conditions

The OSI Residential Treatment Clinic at Ste. Annes Hospital near Montreal is beneficial in some cases when a short period of inpatient care is required.

Referrals and Eligibility

To receive OSI Clinic services, Canadian Armed Forces members, veterans and RCMP require
a referral. Veterans and retired RCMP members are asked to discuss a referral with their VAC case manager. People without case managers may call 1.866.522.2122 (English) or
1.866.522.2022 (French) to inquire about their eligibility. Canadian Armed Forces regular and reserve members who are still serving should contact their Base Medical Officer. RCMP
members should speak with their Divisional Health Services Officer.
