How does it work?
Place any credit-card sized card next to the object youd like to measure, snap a picture with your iPhones camera, align your image with the card placeholder that RulerPhone displays on-screen, and you are ready to measure anything in your picture just by dragging your finger. You can also use any picture already stored in your iPhone or iPod Touch photo library.
RulerPhone figures out the dimensions youre measuring using the card in your picture as reference. Once youve aligned the card in your image with the on-screen card placeholder, you simply drag your finger across the screen to measure distance. RulerPhone will display a ruler over your picture that you can drag and adjust to fine-tune your measurements (as seen in the screenshot below).
Is it accurate?
RulerPhone is accurate within half an inch when measuring distances of three feet or less and can be accurate within a single inch when measuring distances up to 10 feet as long as the instructions are followed closely. Much of RulerPhones accuracy depends on the users ability to follow the on-screen instructions and tips for accuracy. Once these steps are mastered, RulerPhone is a very accurate tool. RulerPhones accuracy will also continue to increase as the iPhones camera is upgraded.
When does it not work?
RulerPhone does not measure depth in a photograph. When you take a picture, RulerPhone can only measure an objects height and/or width. Similarly, if you take a picture with your MetroCard or drivers license off at an angle instead of pointing directly at the camera, RulerPhones accuracy will be compromised. Doesnt work , when it need to take a picture ... Keep your Money ....
Complicado.
Vc tem q estar sempre com um cartão de banco pois eh por ele q eh mensurável todas as coisas ao redor. Vc encaixa o tamanho do cartão em em um quadrante e depois mede o q ta envolta. Chato neh!? Mas pode ser útil. Por isso 3 stars!
Ta complicado
Parece ser um aplicativo fantastico, porem, dificil! Nao estou conseguindo configurar corretamente! Continuo tentando!
Necessita correções
Por usar algo como um cartão de crédito como referência, certamente é necessário que se informe as dimensões da referência, mas não é o que ocorre. Por este motivo os resultados têm sido tão divergentes. Além disto o software só funciona se utilizar uma foto da biblioteca. Não funciona para tentativas de tirar fotos diretamente do aplicativo. Espero que estes problemas sejam reparados o quanto antes, pois como está, terei jogado dinheiro fora.

hätte ich die Ausmessung auch ganz gerne in M/CM und nicht nur in Feet/Inch mit denen ich jetzt nicht wirklich viel anfangen kann. Ansonsten bin ich echt erstaunt wie gut das klappt, misst meistens bis auf wenige mm / max 1-2cm (bisher) genau.
Klasse Programm....
...vor allem nach dem upgrade. In der ersten Version funktionierte bei mir, auf einem iPhone der ersten Generation, die direkte Fotoaufnahme nicht. Ben macht aber einen schnellen und guten support und jetzt ist eh alles OK. Nach dem upgrade ist jetzt auch die Messung in der Längeneinheit Meter bzw. cm möglich.
