The Case of the Jolly Hangman
When a salesman is found hanged in his hotel room his widow is far from believing its suicide (as stated by the police) so she contacts Sherlock Holmes to investigate further.
The Case of the Christmas Pudding
Just before Christmas, Murderer John Norton is due to be sentenced to death. In the courtroom he threatens Sherlock Holmes, and swears to kill him before his execution takes place. Having murdered five of his wives Norton’s six wife still maintains his innocence, and shortly after she delivers him a christmas pudding he escapes, despite the high security precautions the prison has. Holmes receives a call in the middle of the night informing him of the convicts escape and knows he must try and tack him down at once.
