Connect to your GMail account and read out any unread messages in your inbox.

News Alarm comes packed with a directory of hundreds of news feeds including CNN, Fox and BBC. The news feeds can be rated within the app from one to five stars, and the average user rating is displayed. This makes it easy to find the best sources.

Once youve selected your news source, you can customize the number of stories read, the voice used and the speed of the speech.

To give the real news bulletin feel, in between each headline a sound is played. You can choose from 11 sounds - from Big Ben to a retro alarm clock.

While the news reader is speaking the news, the story is also displayed on the screen together with the all the details from the story including images and links. The playing alarm can be paused, skipped backward to listen to items again, or skipped forward. A link is provided to view the full news story in Safari.

Wake up to weather information in your current location (using GPS) or any other global location (search by town, place of interest, address or zip code).

** Calendar events **

The app connects to your iPhone calendar and reads out any events scheduled for the day. It also looks in your contacts and lets you know if its anyones birthday.

** Speech Actions **

NewsAlarm lets you create a list of speech actions to perform when the alarm goes off. This includes reading news feeds and calendar events, but also custom phrases and speaking the time.

** Alarm sounds **

In addition to the speaking alarms, you can also have a regular digital alarm, retro alarm buzzing sound and even birdsong!
