Wherever you go, theres your Mac.

New from Avatron, the folks who brought you Air Display, Air Stylus, Air Sharing, Air Dictate, and Print Sharing … Air Login keeps you connected to your home and office Macs while youre on the go.

Air Login connects over the Internet to present your Mac OS X screen on your iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch. A virtual trackpad lets you move a mouse cursor around on the screen and interact with the Mac user interface.

There are other remote-access clients in the App Store. But none can compare with Air Logins ease of use. With Air Login you spend less time panning around a big screen and more time working with your Mac apps and documents.

• Air Login keeps the Mac menu bar pinned at the top of your iOS screen, even while you zoom and pan the rest of the screen to focus on small UI elements. The menu works instantly because its cached locally, and doesnt need to communicate back to the computer until you select a menu item.
• A Mission Control-like feature called App Grid lets you quickly focus on a particular Mac window or app.
• A custom keyboard gives you all of the special Mac keys that you need.
• Avatrons advanced Air Connect server connects your devices even if theyre behind firewalls, on a cell connection, or on a very restrictive network. If your Mac can surf the Web, Air Login can operate it remotely.

This version of Air Login can only access Mac computers running OS X 10.7 or later. You will need to install the free Air Connect app on your Mac.

And the Air Connect app itself gives you awesome great connectivity power:

• Connect from Mac to to a remote Mac
• Use Mac OS Xs excellent built-in sharing services
• Screen Sharing (VNC)
• File Sharing (AFP)
• Terminal (SSH)
• Encryption of all communications

We love cloud-storage apps like Dropbox. But with Air Connect, you can stay on the free DropBox plan. Rather than storing every file that you might want to access remotely, inside your Dropbox folder, just use Air Connect to go back to your remote Mac to grab a file when you need it. Never pay $100+ per year again for getting to your own files. As an added security benefit, when you access files through Air Connect, your files never go through our servers and are never stored in the cloud.

Your free Air Connect account lets you use Air Login to connect to any number of computers on your local network, and lets you connect any local Mac to any other. If you want to connect to a remote Mac, you can subscribe to the "Air Login Anywhere" service.

I deleted it. It cant be used locally without creating an account with the developer. Yet another "free" app that requires an account. The details mention a "free" account but should be updated to make it clear it is mandatory even for local LAN use where you might not have Internet access from all machines.

This is great, especially for free

I wish this app came out sooner, before I wasted money on iTeleport. Easily lets me control my computer from other rooms of the house.

Does not Work

I have used similar applications that are not great but at least they connect. This app never connected and froze my iPhone 5. Looked nice though.

Like it but....

Sure would like for the remote part to be free with restrictions like logmein has. I dont want to shell out for a subscription just yet. Want to take it for a test run; like when Im on the road not on LAN. The whole idea is to be able to get to my stuff while Im on the WAN; in my mind at least. That said, for me it worked like a charm. Even can use quicksilver via this apps virtual keyboard (impressed). I like all the features offered. Just give us the remote access for free also, if u will with caveats.

Has never connected

I have had the app installed for 3 days now. After a long delay authenticating I always get Host Offline message. Each time. Every time. As a result I have no idea if the app works. Very frustrating. At a minimum the alternative apps always connect.

Dont Buy!

Not worth it. Very difficult to work with desktop view from iPad. Very small text and the "mouse" is awful. Not only that, but I got billed $14.99 and was unable to cancel with iTunes because app shows up as "free" on my account! Im apparently stuck for $14.99 so dont buy unless you are sure this is something you need.

Design leaves competition in their dust!

I am a constant user of LogMeIn ignition and found it to be the best option to date for remote access. Now, after using Air Login, I have no doubt that Avatrons app will replace Ignition in the near future. Their attention to detail has made strengths out of other apps weaknesses. It was an excellent choice to constantly display the Macs menu bar at the top of the screen. I love everything about its feel from the layout of controls to the simplicity of use. Even the keyboard is a welcome improvement over LogMeIns awkward design. Air Login feels like it was designed the way a remote access app should be, much how quality iOS app design was re-defined by Tweetbot, Evernote 5, Wunderlist 2 and Chrome (sorry, Safari). Even though Air Login feels revolutionary, this is still a 1.0 release and more evolution is needed ASAP. Switching between open apps, desktops and user accounts all failed or dont exist as an option. It was unable to access a second user account and instead froze on the last screen of the first account. The dock could not be accessed as the pointer reaches a limit a few pixels above the unhide activation zone. Right now, the app will not connect from my iPhone... which is probably due to overloaded servers after Steve published the article above. Growing pains aside, I am very happy this app has seen its first release. Avatron designed an app based on a real understanding of how people want and need to work. Once it matures and scales past the issues above, there is no question it will be worth the $14.99/year subscription price (and a 5-star rating)!
