Globally the demand for energy increases. Ampyx Power has the ambition to meet this demand at the lowest cost and in a sustainable way. From all existing renewable energy sources wind has the most potential, but how to harvest it in an efficient way? Ampyx Power is developing an Airborne Wind Energy system with a PowerPlane, an autonomous aircraft tethered to a generator on the ground that moves in a regular figure-8 pattern at an altitude of up to 450m. The PowerPlane converts wind at higher altitudes, where the wind is stronger and more constant, into electricity. The energy yield is high, while the material and installation costs are relatively low. This is why Ampyx Power can provide abundant renewable energy at cost levels below any other methods of electricity generation.
