Description
以空腹血糖和空腹胰岛素评价胰岛素抵抗指数和胰岛功能指数，以身高、体重计算BMI指数，以糖化血红蛋白计算平均血糖。
目前虽然对糖尿病的病因认识还不清楚，但现代医学研究发展，在糖尿病发生和发展过程中有两个因素最重要的因素：胰岛素抵抗升高和胰岛功能下降。长期胰岛素抵抗，胰岛功能就会不断下降，胰岛功能下降到一定程度就会发生糖尿病。
在糖尿病发展早期阶段，胰岛通过代偿性分泌高水平的胰岛素，可以把血糖控制在正常水平，这时血糖、糖化、糖耐量等各项指标都正常，但胰岛素抵抗水平却不断升高，胰岛功能逐渐下降，直到胰岛代偿功能下降，不能分泌更多的胰岛素时，血糖水平才会慢慢升高。这个过程要持续10-20年，如果能提前发现胰岛素抵抗水平升高，就可以延缓甚至避免糖尿病的发生。
很多糖尿病患者只是在盲目服用药物，患者并不清楚自己的病情是否得到了有效控制，自己的病情发展程度如何。如果糖尿病患者的胰岛素抵抗水平不能及时降下来，胰岛功能就会继续下降，说明病情没有得到有效控制，需要及时调整治疗方案。
糖尿病高危人群，尤其是有糖尿病家族史的人，究竟会不会得糖尿病，关键在于胰岛素抵抗，如果胰岛素抵抗水平不断升高，糖尿病风险就越来越大。
胰岛素抵抗在多囊卵巢患者中也比较常见，但胰岛素抵抗的问题往往被忽略。
