Im a Japanese MA student in a Hyakunin Isshu course this semester. I knew nothing about the poetry anthology, so I bought a $10 book and this $3 app. The app is so much more helpful in understanding exactly what Hyakunin Isshu is. My Japanese friends tried to explain how they grew up playing the card games and memorizing the poems, but I really didnt understand what they were talking about until I got this app. Theres the card games, memorization practice, and just the poems themselves with the text, card, and singing. Everyone I show it to thinks its great and will be extremely helpful because we have to recite the poems from memory in the class.
