Full version — Traditional film simulation with full camera control — the Argent Film Simulator is a software camera that simulates traditional chemical films and papers, lens filtration and B&W toning while giving you full control of your iOS device camera.
Argent’s film simulation suite has been in development since 2006 and includes a vast library of colour and B&W instant, slide & negative films and paper, including
- 50+ classic films plus darkroom process variations
- 20+ classic papers plus contrast/filter variations
- 30+ lens filters, including all popular Wratten types
- 80+ true-to-life B&W paper tones, including platinum, palladium, sepia and cyanotypes
- Over/under film exposure control in 1/3 stop units
- Over/under paper exposure control in 0.1 stop units
- Digital histogram processing for preparing actual prints
- Forced colour/BW processing to create esoteric effects
Argent gives you tools to manage these myriad possibilities with eight banks of six fully customizable presets allowing you to create different sets of easy to navigate film “looks” for every situation.
Argent lets you control your device completely with:
- Full manual control of exposure in EV or Bias units
- Sunlight, Automatic, Locked and Grey card white balance
- Manual and continuous focus with point-of-interest
- Dedicated tap-to-focus button for focus/recompose use
- Repeating self timer with 2 or 10 second delay
- One-shot timer with up to 5 minute delay
- Aspect ratios from 1:1 to 4:1 including 16:9 and 24:10
- Inverted view for use with Depth-of-Field adapters
- Six levels of lens vignetting with movable centre
- Four composition aids, including rule of thirds and the golden mean
- Macro/distance focusing preference control
Argent is fine tuned to deliver the best image quality possible from your iOS camera hardware and firmware. Despite this, Argent is easy on your battery with highly optimized real-time simulation code.
