The underlying pedagogical methodology for this application is to teach students letters as well as to teach them how to combine letters into words. A student is offered either/both a visual prompt or/and audio prompt to "write" a word. The word is to be ‘written’ by dragging appropriate letters one at a time in the designated slot in the correct order. Success is rewarded by a short fun game.

I downloaded this application a week ago and it is still being used. Update: There are new words with this update, but I wish I could add my own words, that would make it a perfect app for young children.
Great App!
I have only had this app for 20 minutes or so, but my daughter has been playing it for that whole time! The voice is nice and clear and you can easily understand what words they are saying. I like how it repeats the letter names and the word, but if I had one request it would be that it sounded out the word at some point. I would like for her to learn that the letters make sounds to make up the word, not just memorize the letters to make up the words. Thanks for a great app and I look forward to updates, hopefully containing letter sounds! :)

Its really good. Worth every penny.
Has potential
This app approaches spelling from memorization rather than sound and rule based. The program only offers the option of sound on, where the letter is named, or sound off. Children should be able to hear the sound the letter makes not the letter name. This is how they begin to learn spelling before they start learning the rules. Spelling is a thinking process. It would also be nice to see the option of choosing the vowel sound youd like to focus on. This would help children who are really struggling to acquire their reading, writing and spelling skills. Another suggestion is to color code the vowels.

Nice app for my children. I can tell a person with experience in teaching is behind this app - huge difference between this and most of the cheaper apps that I have installed.
