- Train your chess vision anywhere!
- Set your own vision depth.
- Train against the built-in chess engine with settable strength (up to 2500 ELO)

TIP: Your goal is to learn to visualize 5 half-moves into the future, as recommended by GM Andrew Soltis in his book "Studying Chess Made Easy"

Chess Vision Trainer IS NOT FOR ALL!
BEFORE BUYING, first find out if this is app for you.
Please watch the video tutorial (Starting Out: Chess Vision Trainer) http://www.youtube.com/chess2028

NOTE that the chess squares may be too SMALL for you. DO NOT BUY if you have difficulty touching small areas of your device.

When Alekhine was asked "How many moves do you see ahead?" his answer was "Just one move deeper than my opponent!".

Chess Vision Trainer is a chess training system designed to develop and improve your visualization and move calculation skills in Chess. Visualization and calculation play a major role in winning chess. These are the skills that separate the masters from the amateurs.

The built-in chess playing engine acts as your training partner. The position displayed on the chess board is not the true position. What is always displayed is the past position a certain number of half-moves (plies) prior to the true position.

You do not play your moves based on the displayed position but based on the true position (which you do not see but you are trying to visualize). This forces you to look ahead of the chess position you see on the board.

TIP: Just like physical strength, good chess vision cannot be achieved in a few days.

Cool Idea

Does what it says extremely well. How about an iPad version?

Great app , very usefull

This is an unique app for those who are serious in chess and making improvement in it. The app forces you to imagine and calculate moves ahead , which is by far one of the main valuable skills for any chess player. Cones lack of the ability to save the games and analysis , though this is a first version , and hopefully will be improved more.

Great idea!

I just started playing but already like the app a lot! The author warns that the app is not for everyone, but I think even very strong players could benefit. I am about 1800 and have to concentrate very hard to beat the engine at 1000 strength with position on the board being 10 plys behind the actual position! So even Carlsen should be challenged enough by 2500 engine and 10 ply blindness level ;) This app is better than purely blind chess as in the actual game pieces on the board distract you from the visualized position during calculation, this is exactly what happens in the app so it trains your brain to do what it will need to do in the real games. Kudos to the author for the great idea!

Good App

A well implemented design. I like the fact that it allows a way to go to the true position if you forget about some of the pieces and don’t want to review the notation. Should help with concentration, I have played and won levels 1000 to 1600 so far on 10 ply. USCF 1863.

Well thought out Game

Thanks for making this app . This app fills a niche that (to my knowledge ) no other app does.

Great idea

A really great app to train chess. And a bargain at 1.99. Really helps with calculation and visualization skills. Will def be a part of my daily studies. A great idea.
