Amazing
Most comprehensive craft beer guide in London
This is a nice app!
London, the Big Smoke, is a sprawling, spread-out place, baffling even to many locals. Its also home to a dynamic new beer scene, with dozens of new pubs — even dozens of new breweries — all dating from just the past few years. This means two things: Youll definitely need help finding your way to good beer there. Your guidebook is — without a doubt — way out of date. The good stuffs just not in it. Thats where this app comes in, and I wish like hell it had been available for my last trip: it would have made planning so much easier. Youve got easy tabs for the best pubs, breweries and bottle shops. Its location-aware, so it gives you the closest places to where you currently are. You can search by name, or cruise through the (very good) maps. Theres even a news feed for news about ownership changes, beer festivals, and so forth, so youll be up to date when you land, and ready to take advantage of whatevers happening. A couple of caveats: the pubs are rated by Will Hawkes, a London-based beer writer for the Independent and other newspapers, but be aware those ratings are subjective (the King William IV is a 3-star pub? Whatever). The "what to drink" tips are a bit over-simplified, but I imagine that would help a lot of time-pressed travelers, or people who are not completely au courant with the exploding UK beer scene. Did this app change my life? No. Did it make me more handsome, smarter, or more popular at parties? Maybe. In any case, its a first-rate job that easily replaces a heavy "Good Beer" guidebook or piles of printed-up internet pages with a sleek, user-friendly interface and authoritative, well-written listings for the cream of the crop of London pubs and beer bars, and a bargain at the price. Im already planning my next trip to London using this app as the starting point. Mandatory for beer-loving travelers to London. Highly recommended.
Nicely done but please open it up.
I appreciate the effort thats gone in to this app. The positives are this is a great app for the new kid wanting some beginner guidance on the craft beer scene in London. The negatives are the inflexibility in ability to change ratings and add comments to the creators information. I dont necessarily agree with the ratings. Was there any monetisation involved in the review process? While I doubt there was, I prefer more democratic methods for ratings. Give the users a chance to give their input! And to nominate their favourites for inclusion in the process.
