About Daimoku:
Daimoku is a mantra that is chanted as the central practice of Nichiren Buddhism – Nam Myōhō Renge Kyō. It is part of the Lotus Sutra based teachings of Nichiren Daishōnin, a 13th-century Japanese Buddhist priest.
Soka Gakkai International (SGI) is a lay Buddhist movement of Nichiren Buddhism. SGI members integrate the chanting of Daimoku into their daily lives and is practiced by more than 12 million SGI members around the world.
Chanting Daimoku is part of a practitioners daily routine in the morning and evening. While the duration to chant is a personal choice, one is encouraged to be consistent with their daily practice.
