fomo is an "educate and entertain" app built with the intention of revealing and educating users on the dark side of societys addiction to social media, by presenting brutally-honest representations of the features weve come to expect from our favorite apps along with why the developers build them this way, and how we as users are actually using them—whether we realize it or not.

To submit a fomo-worthy post to the Hall of Fomo, simply tag it with @ourfomo and #fomofamous to get our attention!

Features
Fomo feed
The fomo feed is meant to represent your favorite social-media "feeds", or in other words: views of people you know doing things without you. :)

Feed items are revealed as either the REAL thing the posters are often seeking in making the post, OR the ridiculous thing the poster thinks their audience doesnt see right through.

SoapBox
The Soapbox represents the task of creating a new post (or, if were honest... "broadcast") on social media.

The text box prompts you with inspiring snippets that reveal the frame of mind many people clearly hold (perhaps subconsciously) just before posting on social media. It primarily highlights the societal trend of using social media to "broadcast" the majority of our lives—from our most trivial thoughts to our lived experiences—as if the majority of our thoughts are in need of "publishing" to be worthwhile, and as if our experiences arent personally valuable unless others know we are having them.

Triggers
We decided to name this one exactly how the behavior-modification specialists working at the social-media companies refer to them—just so there wasnt anything lost in translation.

Triggers are meant to represent the notification lists common to social media, finally framed as what they are: mechanisms carefully tuned to compete for your attention and build habits around using the developers app.

We think youll enjoy some of the examples of notifications we WISH we got from our social media apps, too.
