Description
The app addresses such common questions as:
•which moms need antibiotics in labor?
•how does one choose between Penicillin, Ampicillin, Cefazolin, Clinda, and Vancomycin?
•which moms need culture with sensitivity testing ordered on their GBS screening culture?
•how do I handle preterm labor and preterm premature rupture of membranes (PTL & PPROM)?
•how do I handle a mom in labor who never got her 35-37 week GBS culture (or the results are not available)?
•which babies have been treated adequately to prophylax against GBS disease?
•how do I handle a baby whose mother arrived and delivered too quickly for prophylactic antibiotics to be given?
This app is written and intended for practicing clinicians like OBs, midwives, and family physicians; for resident physician trainees; for medical students; and for any others who are involved in pregnancy and labor care such as L&D nurses, clinical educators, etc.
As an educator and clinician, I am interested in feedback and I would be grateful for guidance on improving the tool.

Very good!
Nice, if you need to know
This a simple and basic decision making tool for which term laboring patients need prophylaxis suggesting the optimal drug for the situation. A fetal therapy decision tree is also included. The format is based on answering yes/no questions to arrive at the 2002 CDC recommendations. The App is simple, illustrative, and the information is accurate. I do not see this being used by a current practicing obstetrician, as one would know this cold. Students, new residents, maternity cross covering nurses may benefit from this Apps format & information. Kudos to the author for the effort and making this free contribution to medical education!!
Very useful for new residents!!
Highly recommend it...
Excellent learning tool and reference
As with Dr Steinbergs other apps, this one condenses a lot of complex information and makes it easier to learn and quickly access. All the appropriate references (and often pdfs of important algorithims) are included if one wants to read the source document(s). I particularly appreciate that this, like the authors other apps, doesnt so much spit out the right answer as it does suggest a way to approach the pt/clinical situation and walks one through the process of determining the appropriate management with lots of explanatory notes which are accessible if needed but out of the way if not relevant to you. If you know the CDC GBS guidelines backwards and forwards, you dont need this app. But if you take care of pregnant women and neonates and need even an *occasional* reminder of the intricacies of GBS management, try it. Im a Family Practice resident, no affiliation with author/developers.
