Firmly master the conjugation of Japanese verbs and adjectives!
This app helps you to master the conjugation of elementary verbs and adjectives through practice at your own pace.
It marks the third official iPhone app for GENKI: An Integrated Course in Elementary Japanese, a best-selling series of Japanese learning materials boasting more than 1.2 million copies sold.

Advantages
•You can view the cards and listen to the recordings as you like, enabling you to study at your own pace.
•The different conjugations are mastered through two types of practice: saying the conjugated forms aloud or typing them.
•All conjugation forms studied at the elementary level are covered: 18 for verbs and 10 for adjectives
•As you go through each conjugation card deck, the cards answered correctly are automatically removed, allowing you to efficiently focus on the trickier words in the next round of practice.

Study methods
MyDeck: Practice each word by looking at the cards and repeatedly saying the conjugated forms aloud.
(1) Each card has a word and the conjugation type to be practiced. Say the word in the conjugated form indicated.
(2) Tap the sound icon to check whether you said the conjugated form correctly.
(3) Tap the * icon to check the conjugated form in writing.
(4) Study the use of the conjugated form by referring to the example sentence and illustration on the back side of the card.
(5) Tap the Rule icon to see the conjugation rule.

Check: Test your retention of each conjugated form by typing in your answers.*
(1) Type in the conjugated form as instructed.
(2) If you entered the correct form, the card will be removed from MyDeck. Cards answered incorrectly or skipped will remain in the deck for further practice.
*To study with the Check method, you will need to add a Japanese keyboard to your iPhone settings before starting.

Handy features
•Menu
The study selections are grouped together in a single menu to allow you to practice more efficiently.

•List
All conjugation forms of each word are listed in this feature, with the words arranged in a-i-u-e-o order. A check mark is displayed next to each conjugation form that has been mastered and the MyDeck card for each entry can be opened, allowing you to review the conjugations via the list.

•Rule
This feature lists the rules for all 28 conjugation types covered by the app, enabling you to quickly look up the way to form conjugations such as the passive, the causative, the causative passive, and the tricky te-form.

•MyDeck Shuffle Mode
Activating this mode will cause the app to display the MyDeck cards in random order, rather than the default order. Shuffling the deck will help you to more firmly master the material.

•Tutorials
The tutorials provide helpful lessons on how to add a Japanese keyboard and operate each function.

Extremely basic functionality and constantly quits

Confusing User Interface - Not all that useful.

Whoever wrote this didnt really seem interested in making it useful. There is no way to select cards for your review based on your current progress in Genki. Instead, one picks sets that cuts across material in more than one chapter. Also, when it comes time to check your answer, it gives you the verb ending, which is half the answer. My feeling about this app is that currently it is not of any use at all and when it might be usable I wont need it anymore.

very impressed

Like many people studying Japanese, I’ve bought a ton of apps. This one has surprised me. It’s quite good, excellent for what it is advertised for. Well done.

すごい!! Excellent app to help with your Nihongo studies

I am really impressed with this app, if you are using an Iphone/Ipad and studying Japanese this is really a help. If you are using the Genki book series, this is a MUST HAVE app. Unless you are a savant at studying Japanese...and I know Im not...you know that one of the big hurdles of becoming proficient at Japanese is mastery of verb (and adjective) conjugation. I wish I had this app a year ago when I started with Genki, but even with a year into Genki Im already thrilled with the app. Looks great on both iPhone (Im using the 6) and iPad. Hats off to the UX design group, its an easy to use app. Essentially following the verb/adjective conjugation order as presented in the Genki 1 and 2 texts, you have these main ways to use the app: 1) "Menu" option gives you two main ways to use flashcards. It also lets you create you own set of flashcards. This is huge IMHO. Ive used several other flashcard programs, and unless you manually edit the deck youre often stuck with the total collection of flashcards to study with. This app allows you to choose verbs/adjectives from each chapter. Choose one, choose many, choose all...its up to you. Once you have selected your deck, you can either A) review it, or B) study it through a standard Question, you provide the answer. Each review card is well designed, has audio/example/rule description, and Kanji with furigana conjugated word. 2) Use an alphabetical LIST of the verbs/adjectives to study 3) Review the RULES of the conjugations Other items of note: Audio pronuciation, example sentences and translation, and you enter in your answers in Japanese! This last feature is great, they show you the easy way to add in a Japanese keyboard into your iphone/ipad (dead simple to do). You really should be using less and less Romajii, and this app helps you do this too. As you can tell, Im very impressed with this app. Id also recommend the Genki Vocab and Kanji apps too. I could have saved myself lots of $$s when I started with Genki had I know about these three apps by The Japan Times. Im not associated with these apps, just a delighted student of Nihongo. Well done!

Needs fixes

App is okay but constantly freezes and has to be restarted. Some of the tutorial images are missing or intentionally left blank. Cant add new words or turn off kanji readings above words. Would like to be able to turn off hints when checking also, makes testing pointless when they give you the answer above the question -.-

Not bad, recommended if you use Genki Textbook

Good extension to learn on the go if you have/use a Genki Textbook from school. App sometimes crashes, but other than that, I actually understand some convenient grammar usage from this!
