Dr. Michael Lardon has developed strategies for players like Phil Mickelson, Lee Janzen, David Duval and Will Zalatoris to play with a clear, focused mind, make better decisions and handle competitive pressure. At the center of his system is the Mental Scorecard, which is outlined in his book Mastering Golfs Mental Game.
The Mental Scorecard is based on the pre-shot pyramid and its three steps:
1. Use your logical mind (left brain) to factor in variables such as distance, wind, trajectory and club selection.
2. Use creative mind (right brain) to visualize and "feel" the shot.
3. Step into the shot, tighten focus, and execute with either one simple swing thought or none.

As mental scores increase over time, golfers will typically see their actual scores and handicaps decrease.
