Great app!

Gengo Flashcards is a great app that does exactly what it promises: it helps learning Japanese vocabulary by providing flashcards and a small multiple-choice game. The functionality to add your own flashcards using pictures from your camera or picture library and a recorded sound is also very useful but a bit bumpy, so far. The pictures sometimes just disappear during the edit process or appear being stiched (which just doesnt look as nice as the rest of the flashcards). Also its not quite clear where to enter the Japanese and where the English version given the field names "title" and "local version"... While its definitely worth 5 points Im just voting 4 here so theres some more to give once these bugs are fixed... このアップどうもありがとうございます!

not really good

this app does not allow you to select any words. neither by difficulty nor by taste. the pictures generally do not show the word thdy should describe in an easily comprehendable view many if not most words are only those fashionable us-emglish loanwords (like sneaker) and fhe real japanese word is not mentioned (kutsu in this case) the written text is way too small (on an ipod/iphone) and cant be zoomed a flashcard app should do a job, it should not be a show.

Not bad but needs work

This is a handy app and is helping me brush up on the basics for a trip to japan but the images are often far too ambiguous. In 5 minutes I must have wondered what I was supposed to look at about 5 times. Neck? Nope - lips. Pages? Magazine. People smiling? Also please take out the plus sign between kana. Its more distracting than helpful

My Own FlashCards - very very cool and useful

I have all the applications from KoreanClass101 and JapanesePod101. They keep making better and better applications! This application is GREAT! The categories are well structured, the pictures are of very high quality, and the audio is very clear. The best part is making your own flashcards. Its very, VERY cool. Get your own pictures, and start recording your voice so you can remember. downside is that youre not a native speaker, so might not be pronouncing it right. But Ive been holding the iphone up to my gfs mouth and forcing her to read it. lol. Ive already made about 25 flashcards of my own. it took probably about 30 mins. Very, very cool feature, and very well made. Keep those great applications coming boys!

Innovative Way to Learn

Great tool! Very innovative, very intuitive, and very user-friendly. Creating the flash cards are very easy to do, it takes literally less than a a minute. All the categories are well structured, and the audio is nice and clear. But definitely the best part of this application is the fact that you can make your own flashcards. Ive had mine for about a week, and I created 100 of my own, and put them in my own categories. Excellent tool to master Japanese vocabulary!

Meh...

The make-it-yourself notecards dont allow for kanji & hiragana learning. When you make your own notecards, it requires pics which is a pain. If you have the iTouch, this program is not easy or convenient. The only reason I d/led it was so I could enter test vocab lists since making physical notecards is a hastle and quite time consuming. Now this app is completely useless to me. $6 down the drain.

Very Well Made Program at a Fair Price

Easy to use program. Well priced. Easily worth 10 dollars. In my opinion ignore the other flash card programs on itunes, most are worthless. The pictures are helpful to learning new words. Some of the pictures arent clear what the word is speaking of until you flip the card and see the definition. Something they should rework if/when they update the program. I like how each section is only 10 cards, most flash card programs on itunes make you learn in large amounts. Easier to learn in small amounts going over what you learn after that batch, rather then running through 80 or so scattered unstructured words and try to retain most of it. Great supplement for learning.
