LookTel Recognizer allows those persons having visual impairments or blindness to identify cans, packages, ID or credit cards, DVDs, and similar items. Customers can store images of objects in a library or database, and then point the iPhones camera at an object and the phone will recognize and describe the item instantly. A barcode scanner is included to provide additional labeling help.
LookTel Recognizer is powered by an evolution of NantWorks Internet of Thought™ data linking services in LookTels "Money Reader", an app that has helped thousands of customers with visual impairments or blindness to instantly identify and count more than 20 paper currencies. Like MoneyReader, Recognizer uses state-of-the-art recognition technology.
Recognition happens instantly, in real-time, without having to hold the camera still to capture a photo, then wait for a result. Recognizer can be used at any location, anytime, as the app needs no internet connection.
Recognizer provides customers backup support through export of the Library items via EMail, enabling the restoration of a database from lost or replaced devices. Sharing items with other members of the community is made easy via this email export.
Please note that people with severe visual impairments or blindness may require sighted assistance to initially create the image library. The image library must be setup before LookTel Recognizer can be used to identify objects.

Creating the library is easy, and can be fun, especially if you have a friend or family member who is a shutterbug. Excelente ferramenta!
Muito útil para deficientes visuais. O segredo é montar uma boa biblioteca de imagens contando com a ajuda de um vidente, assim dependeremos cada vez menos de um. Tirar uma boa foto do objeto, gravar o áudio e apontar a câmera, com o app aberto, sempre que quiser saber o que é aquilo. Funciona para remédios, latas,qualquer coisa que queira. Ainda podemos compartilhar nossa biblioteca com outros usuários. Recomendo. @baixavisao
Ein Entdecker der Extraklasse für blinde Menschen
Vor allem die ungewohnten räumlichen Umgebungen sind es, die vielen blinden Menschen, zu denen ich selbst übrigens auch gehöre, mehr oder weniger regelmäßig zu schaffen machen. Was steht hier im Raum, worauf ich achten sollte? Wohin führt der Eingang da? Alles Fragen, auf welche einem diese App Antworten finden kann, wenn man sie vorher nur richtig mit den Fotos ihrer Umgebung und dazugehörigen Sprech-Labels versorgt. OK, das ist anfangs etwas aufwendig, zumal man sich als blinder Nutzer vorher um die Unterstützung eines aufmerksamen "Bildmachers" kümmern muss. Aber hat man den gefunden, ist der kinderleicht zu bedienenden App wirklich kaum noch etwas verborgen und der Phantasie, wo man sie überall sinnvoll einsetzen kann, sind keine Grenzen gesetzt. Allen blinden IOS-Geräte-Nutzern kann ich dieses Meisterstück nur wärmstens empfehlen.
Guter Alltagshelfer für Blinde und Sehbehinderte
Mit der App lassen sich Fotos aufnehmen und mit einer Audiobeschreibung versehen. Wird ein fotografierter Gegenstand dann wieder vor die Kamera gehalten, spielt die App automatisch das dazugehörige Audio ab. Die Bibliothek mit Fotos und Audios muss selbst erstellt werden. Danach ist die Aapp ein nützlicher Helfer, um alle möglichen Gegenstände blind unterscheiden zu können.

Einfach zu bedienen, schnell. Leider geht das selber fotografieren noch nicht.
