This app is the brainchild of a certified Singapore primary school Mathematics teacher from MOE and the expertise of a US development team that was painstakingly built over the course of 1 year.
Math Model offers an alternative mode of learning for a child aged 6-9 years to acquire the basic skill of using models to solve mathematical problems. This version mainly tackles the routine aspect of heuristics Mathematics using addition and subtraction. You get a total of 30 questions under 3 main sets: Addition, Subtraction and Mixed. This app is a great way to introduce problem solving to children as more than half of PSLE goes to heuristics-related questions. Math Model is easy to use, interactive and interesting. Effective learning continues to take place, beyond pen and paper.
Using this program, a child will learn to
- Identify key information,
- Observe the relationship between different numbers in a math problem,
- Present the problem in a coherent diagram before attempting to solve the problem in a fun and exciting way.
Immediate feedback on the design of models and sample models are also available to enhance the child’s learning.
