A two time winner of the Academy Award (Oscar) and innumerable other awards, A.R. Rahman is popularly known as the man who has redefined contemporary Indian music. With a career spanning 20 years and having sold more than 300 million records of more than 100 film soundtracks and albums across half a dozen languages, he is one of the world’s all time top selling recording artistes. Referred to as the ‘Mozart of Madras’, Described as the worlds most prominent and prolific film composer by Time Magazine, they had also named him one of the ‘100 most influential people’ on the planet in 2009. The UK based World Music magazine Songlines named him one of Tomorrows World Music Icons in August 2011.
