ROTARACT APP (provisional name) is an initiative of "Rotaract Germany Committee" (RDK).
START PERSONAL CONVERSATIONS with stranger people in your immediate vicinity.
IMPORTANCE OF ROTARACT APP
ROTARACT APP is the epitome of Rotary goals, the promotion of friendships, international understanding and peace.
The decision to use an app as an instrument to achieve these goals is based on the thought to pick people up where they are: behind their smartphones.
The importance of personal conversation grows in the face of our unstable time, which is characterized by unpredictable events with an increasing acceleration of social processes, as well as populism and intolerance.
A personal conversation among strangers helps to reduce prejudices and fears and break the spiral ignorance - fear - intolerance - aggression.
Starting from a single personal conversation between two people taking place in a microcosm, in a cafe, a hotel lobby, in the train, or wherever strangers meet, a movement of mutual tolerance can be initiated, which can have an effect on a larger macrocosm of international understanding and promoting peace among people.
FUNCTION:
ROTARACT APP is used wherever strangers encounter each other, e.g. in hotels, cafes, public transport.
ROTARACT APP provides you with the template to start a personal conversation with previously unknown people in your immediate vicinity (within a radius of about 100 m), which signal their willingness to speak when using ROTARACT APP. You can stay in contact with these people even after the conversation by use of the address book (email verification required) without having to exchange any personal contact information.
FIRST STEPS:
Deposit a photo that clearly shows your face (restrictive face detection). Optionally, you can also enter your first or last name and current location. Make sure that your smartphone has a functioning internet connection (preferably via Wifi, alternatively via 3G / LTE) and in addition optionally activated Bluetooth. Press the logo and you will receive a photo of other people who are also using the ROTARACT APP in their immediate vicinity. If you want to go offline again, just press the logo again.
You can optionally add additional information to your own profile, e.g. make offers, make inquiries or tell about an event that is important to you, e.g. your first climb to Mount Everest. The additional information can serve as a basis for the conversation.
Once you have obtained a profile from another person, you can address them directly. Optionally, you can also send a message first by pressing the button "MAYI CONTACT YOU?".
If you want to stay in contact with your conversation partner after a conversation, you can transfer their profile to your address book. To do this, press the button "MAYI SAVE YOUR DATA?". As soon as your conversation partner has confirmed your request, the profiles will be saved mutually in the address book.
DATA PROTECTION:
We strongly believe that your personal information belongs only to you. Due to the fact that only one photo is needed to run the app - enough to signal a willingness to communicate - your privacy is maximized. Your photo is not related to personal contact information. If you want to use the address book or to certify yourself, you only have to enter a verifiable e-mail address.
In addition, various security devices ensure that ROTARACT APP is safe in its application, even when entering further data and additional functions, e.g. use the address book of the app.
