The Sophia Tutor App is designed as a tool for tutors who have successfully undergone our safer recruitment in education process in order to connect them with verified clients for face to face private tuition, quickly and safely at the touch of a button. Raising the bar on safer recruitment standards, and safeguarding our users in order to professionalise the private tuition industry.
Sophia is an education technology company, created by educators for educators. The Sophia App for tutors, instantly connects you with clients looking for one-to-one, face to face private tuition sessions, scheduled via our intuitive on demand mobile application.
At Sophia, our educational philosophy is based on empowering students to reach their full potential as they grow from the learners of today into the leaders of the future. Our name comes from the Greek word for wisdom; wisdom is what our tutors share with their students in order to best prepare them for what lies ahead.
We connect students who seek to be inspired with tutors who love sharing knowledge, in order to develop self-belief, curiosity, well-being and confidence in all our learners. Sophia challenges the status quo by bringing the best practice in safer recruitment in education to a largely unregulated industry. The power to set an entire industry free is at your fingertips.
To join Sophia, all tutors are fully vetted by the Sophia Education team, undergoing a rigorous interview process to ensure that all the tutors we provide are of high calibre, reliable, professional, excellent communicators and, most importantly, inspirational teachers, who can connect with their students.
Tutors undergo a thorough recruitment, vetting and on-boarding process to ensure that every tutor on our platform has passed our rigorous professional standard, upholds the Tutors’ Association Code of Ethics and has successfully completed a Safeguarding Awareness Course offered free by Sophia.
Once you are a verified Sophia tutor, the app allows you to choose your desired locations, select your schedule and set your availability. Client payments to tutors are cashless and secure via Stripe, at the end of every session. Sophia does not charge tutors for any aspect of using the app and all sessions are covered by both public liability and professional indemnity insurance.
We provide a more convenient, efficient and accessible way of supporting tutors in developing their own private tuition business. Sophia takes the admin work out of private tuition so you can focus on what you like to do best.
Tutors can trust our team, sharing over fifty years of experience in education, who have handpicked our team of tutors, and met each of them in person for an in-depth interview to better understand their background, qualifications, experience and passion for education.
