Sudoku Math Mini, tailored for iPhone/iPod screen sizes, features a suduko game style which infuses a math element into each puzzle. This Math style of Sudoku was invented by Tetsuya Miyamoto in 2004, which he used to teach his students mathematics. Sudoku Math takes Miyamotos game one step further by incorporating square roots calculations in each puzzle.

Scientific experts agree that solving challenging mind games like Sudoku puzzles inhibit or prevent the development of Alzheimers disease and memory loss. Not only are these puzzles fun and challenging, but they are great for mental exercise.

Features include:

- Puzzle generator for unlimited play
- 5 grid sizes, ranging from 4x4 to 8x8
- Three difficulty levels for each grid size
- Intuitive user interface
- Lifeline/hint button to reveal an answer
- Highlighter/pencil button to support noting multiple numbers in one square
- Games get saved automatically when App exits
- Game clock to challenge yourself and friends
- Languages supported: English, Spanish, French

HOW TO PLAY:

The rules for Sudoku are simple. Fill each box with a number from 1 to X, where X is the grid size of the puzzle:

4x4 game: fill in with numbers from 1 to 4.
5x5 game: fill in with numbers from 1 to 5.
6x6 game: fill in with numbers from 1 to 6.
…and so on.

Each number can only be used once in any row or column. In the Math style, the grid is also divided into heavily outlined sections which contain a target number and a math operator. The numbers filled into these outlined sections must combine (in any order) to produce the target number using the indicated math operator.

Outlined sections that contain only one box will have a square root equation as the target. Fill in these boxes with the resulting square.

love it! 4/5

Im a huuge Kenken fan, always play it in the New York Times! Very good app, excellent for 99 cents. Im docking 1 star cuz it would be nice to see a highscore page to track your best times.

Meh

Mediocre at best. No undo. Markup tool is difficult to use. Not clear if the puzzles are generated dynamically or drawing from a database.

Good Time-Pass

I love the 7x7 games !

Great app

I had originally rated this app with only one star due to the lack of pencil markings, but now that that issue has been addressed, I am very pleased with this game. This app is very user friendly, yet I do find most puzzles a bit too easy. If there was another option for difficulty it would be perfect! With that said, it is worth the money and fun to play.

Great App!!

This is a really cool app! I havent stopped playing since I downloaded this app. This game is very addictive especially if youre a sudoko/kenken fan!

Good gameplay, but buggy after a solution is reached

I like the variety of grid sizes provided. The game mechanics are quite intuitive, and the touch controls work nicely. The worst problem is a bug involving puzzle completion. After completing a puzzle, a correct group is often shown with a red background. To finish the game, the values from the red cell need to be cleared and reentered just as they were before. Sometimes numbers need to be deleted in reentered for it to even highlight what the game believes is an error. This behavior seems to involve use of the highlighter. Fonts and colors were not elegantly chosen, and the icon graphics lack a common style.

Not unique solutions

This is a fairly well designed implementation except for one thing: it doesnt test for and limit UNIQUE SOLUTIONS! This is not Ken Ken by definition and a sign of a LAZY PROGRAMMER!
