Features:

App is designed to read specific URLs pre-programmed on NFC NTAG2XX NDEF tags. The URLs programmed on the tags will redirect the app user to a corresponding webpage detailing product information, technical specifications, dimensions, instruction manuals, features, etc. The tag content is programmed by business users with access to http://tapi.ie

Workflow:

An NFC tag is supplied pre-programmed with a specific URL. For example – http://tapi.ie/tap?tag=40134401 .

The business customer assigns a URL to this tag in the tapi.ie web portal. For example http://www.vktek.com.au/downloads/clients/LG%20ERICSSON/IPECS/D%20&%20I%20Manual%20100-300-600-1200%20V5.2D2.pdf

When the end user taps the NFC tag they will be directed to the tapi.ie URL which will subsequently redirect them to the product URL associated with the tag URL which was programmed into tapi.ie

Future/In progress development:

Additional of auto-play video demonstrations and tutorials when an NFC tag is tapped

Addition of email templates for stock re-ordering, query submitting, etc.

Addition of submission forms for updating data such as product maintenance and service dates.

Content:

All content is loaded in to the apps built in browser once the iPhone comes into close proximity with an NFC tag. Content will include product specific web pages, email templates, videos, submission forms.

UI:

The user interface is kept purposely basic and works on URLs only to ensure all users easily can tap an NFC tag without having to select the function they are performing. All redirection or conversion to web pages, video, email, forms, etc is done on http://tapi.ie depending on the tag URL.

The main usage requirement at present is for businesses to allow employees to easily access information on plant machinery and other devices internally so that they can check maintenance details, request a service and other functions. The app may also be used by retail to allow customers access information on the products they sell. Since the app was built for use with the tapi.ie web portal only a URL feature is required.
