Thuasne3D Scan is an app that works in conjunction with an iPhone or iPad and the Tech Med 3D software platform. Thuasne3D Scan is a complete solution for replacing casting and other measurement devices. Using your mobile device, you can scan the leg and choose the brace model and options for ordering a Townsend custom knee brace, KAFO or AFO. This increases efficiencies while decreasing turnaround times. The modified file is sent to a three axis mill to carve a positive model of the patients limb that is used to fabricate the custom brace. For carbon fiber and composite braces, a vacuum lamination process is used. For aircraft aluminum braces, the metal parts are hand-contoured to intimately fit the leg model.
