Treπds does use a slightly different algorithm (method) to compute the top trends. The algorithm is more focussed on the moment and real time movement of trends. Due to this, the "order" of trends may not always match what you see on Twitter.
For each Trend, a score is computed that denotes whether a trend is moving up (positive) or down (negative). The trends are then ordered by the score.
No Twitter account is required to browse and get notifications. You will need to login to Twitter only if you want to retweet, reply or post to a trend.
