Student run college radio stations have the most diverse playlists of any radio stations. They play what they want to hear. Not preprogrammed playlists that are on every top-40 station, but alternative rock, indie, local bands, jazz, and classical. You can find it on a college station - most of it commercial free.
They also broadcast their local teams so that you can follow them when you are away from campus.
Colleges also provide the most fair news coverage, including local, national, and international news. Many colleges sponsor the local public radio stations from NPR, APR, and PRI.
