Description
Audubon Hummingbirds at Home
Download Audubon’s Hummingbirds at Home iPhone app, which makes it easy and fun to keep track of the hummingbirds you see while collecting data that helps Audubon scientists and researchers understand how to protect them.
To sustain their high energy lifestyles, hummingbirds must always have quick access to food. This means they must time their migrations with the flowering of the nectar-bearing plants they depend on. Recent studies show that the blooming of hummingbird flowers and arrival of the hummingbirds in their breeding areas are out of sync, which could spell trouble for the world’s smallest bird.
Now you can help Audubon unravel what is happening with hummingbirds and their nectar sources. The Hummingbirds at Home app helps you set up a patch in your yard, garden, porch, window box, park – or just about anywhere – where you can do plant surveys to keep track of hummingbirds and what they feed on. You can also log sightings whenever you spot a hummingbird outside your patch. Then use your smart phone or computer to submit your data to Audubon researchers.
While other birding apps help you identify birds, Hummingbirds at Home lets you contribute to their well-being. Join us. Together we can help hummingbirds.
We value your participation as we work on adding features.
For the best experience, please run Hummingbirds at Home on iOS 7 or later.
