Fix It Mate is an exciting new app that helps connect residential homeowners who need a tradesperson in an emergency call out to their property.
If your boiler has packed up, if your ceiling is leaking, whatever the emergency, Fix It Mate is here to help homeowners by providing reliable, local and vetted tradespeople to your door, so no matter the time of day or night, you can be sure you won’t be left stranded when you need us most.
How does it work for the trades?
As a tradesperson you can download the app to your phone from the Apple Store with our easy – step-by-step process.
As a trades person you will be required to submit 2 forms of identification, a proof of address and a CRB check will be carried out. Once these have been approved you are good to go and can start earning money at a flexible time that suits you.
Once your profile is set up – leave the app on to say you are available to work. You will receive a message on your phone saying ‘Electrician Job’ and the job details/description from the homeowner who has the emergency. Once you accept the job – your details (Name, trade type and picture) will be sent to the homeowner to inform them you are on the way. The homeowner can see your progress as you make your way to their home via an interactive map. The more you are available as a trades person on the app – the more work you will get, it really is that simple.
Once you complete the job the homeowner will be able to leave a review about the job on the app.
How does it work for consumers?
As a homeowner you can download the app from Apple App store and set up a profile on your phone. Once you have your profile you can use the Fix It Mate app to search for the required trade in the app – so for example, if your ceiling is leaking you can select ‘Plumber’ – or if you have locked yourself out of your home you can select ‘Locksmith’ – the app then sends out a signal (like Uber) to the nearest local and available trades person. The Trades person will
get a message on their phone and accept the job. You will get a message with the name of the tradesperson, a picture of them and an arrival time. You will also be able to track their progress on a live map so you can see where they are as they make your way to your home. Once the work is complete you will be able to leave a review of the trades person that will be available on the app.
