‘We’ve been students of photography for a very long time’, says Heinrich, ‘but we can’t claim to know much about it at all, because the more we learn the more we realise what amateurs we still are. We can’t claim to know more than some passionate photographers who started their photography in the digital age. The new generation of photographers tend to be exceptionally creative, as they are not bound by the limitations of emulsion film that the previous generation still have at the back of their minds. Often the memory of film is like a chain, dragging on the seasoned photographers’ feet’, he claims, ‘but there are skills and knowhow that you can only gain through many years of experience.’
