ich war schon von der "paris metro 09" app begeistert und habe mir daher das app für die wiener u-bahn gekauft. es ist genauso gut und rundum empfehlenswert... und damit den nicht geringen preis auf jeden fall wert.

The new Vienna Metro app makes it easy to travel in and around the city using the Metro (U-Bahn), Suburban Rail (S-Bahn) or Tram (Straßenbahn) systems. Unlike old fashioned schematic style maps this product contains a geographically accurate central area showing major streets, parks and places of interest etc, allowing the user to easily get their bearings.

The map is hand drawn by Visual IT and provides a unique geographically based view of Vienna with many places of interest drawn directly on the background so you can easily get your bearings when traveling around the city. You can also use your inbuilt GPS to accurately locate and track yourself within the city centre and see the nearest transportation stop and distance to it. This is the only pubic transportation route planner with this ability.
Tap on the map for location information, use the inbuilt search feature or choose from a list of locations. Places of interest, museums, hotels, parks, restaurant, shops, hospitals, streets, etc, are also included. The route planner will automatically suggest the nearest station to any place of interest you select.
♦ MINUTE MAP
Another great feature is the “Minute Map” option which allows you to see the travel times from a start point to all other locations on the map. This is a unique way to view the topology of a city and gauge traveling times.

The application does not require an internet connection and will always be available to display a clear and detailed view of the city transport systems, plus list and animate the optimum route for your journey. This product provides the fastest route calculations of any mobile routing application (virtually instantaneous) using actual published journey times with the ability to select the quickest route or the route with the least changes.

Ugh!
The program has no place to request a street address. In other words you need to know what station you need to go to and then you need to know how to get from that station to the address. The program is of no help with any of that. You can very easily get station to station information from a printed map in the Metro. Dont waste your money.

Best app for first time visitors
This app changed my trip!! It worked flawlessly, and we have been able to visit Vienna fast, without roaming! Without this app we could have wasted half of the time reading maps and making connections over and over. This app (and the others lile this one Im sure) its a MUST for every tourist!!
great app for tourists
This app was worth every one of the 299 pennies I paid for it! I used it continuously to go all over Vienna by metro and tram. The information was accurate, and there were a lot of great features, such as searching for points of interest, showing individual lines on the map, and mapping routes from point A to point B. It would be nice to have an additional feature that showed bus routes, but that might be un-managable on such a small screen. The trams usually announce which routes you connect too at every stop, so it is pretty easy to figure out the bus routes. Another great feature of this app is that you dont need to be connected to the internet to use it. I guess there are more features I didnt try, because I didnt want to pay roaming charges, but even without those features, I was very satisfied. As an aside, the public transportation system in Vienna is outstanding, and if you buy a two or three day pass, you can ride allover and explore without killing your feet.
Great app
This is the best metro app Ive encountered. Very easy to use. One feature I really like is the ability to set the closest station to your hotel as your "home" location. Then no matter where you are on the city, you can tap "take me home" and it will route you to that station. I wish they had an app for all European cities.
Does Not Work
Crashes most of the time. Requires phone reboot to restore functionality. I have an iPhone 5 with ios9.2 so its not the phone. Want a refund.
